BBC and the Cloud sign free content deal

October 16, 2015

The BBC has signed a deal with Wi-fi provider The Cloud to expand public access to it’s on-line content.

The scheme launches today, it allows members of the public the access the bbc.co.uk website for free using wireless devices via The Cloud’s network of wireless hotspots throughout the country.

The Cloud’s seven thousand five hundred hotspots are spread through a variety of hotspots across the UK. A number of these are focused on outlets of major outlets such as BAA airports Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick, McDonald’s and Coffee Republic. The Cloud also operates several outdoor zones which include the City of London and Canary Wharf.

Visitors will be able to view the BBC website from any Wi-Fi compatible device. BBC programmes will only be viewable via laptops since they currently require iPlayer software.
